February 27, Wednesday 7:00-8:00 pm: FOSR Winter Speaker Series Location:The Memorial Health Care Auditorium, Speaker: Dr. David Allan Dr. Allan is a professor at the University of Michigan and will join us for a discussion on Climate Change. The event if free and all are welcome to come.

March 6, Thursday 6:00pm: Shiawassee Conservation District 58th Annual Meeting Location:The Memorial Health Care Auditorium, Speaker: Michigan United Conservation Clubs The Michigan United Conservation Clubs will be speaking on "Effective Habitat Management for Game Species". March 20, Thursday 7:00-8:00 pm: FOSR Winter Speaker Series Location:The Baker College Welcome Center, Room B, Speaker: Matt Herbert Matt Herbert is a Aquatic Ecologist for The Nature Conservancy in Michigan and he will be speaking on the variety of aquatic life in the Shiawassee River and which species are being threatened
March 29, Saturday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Garlic Mustard Removal Workdays Cancelled due to weather Location: DeVries Nature Conservancy Come and learn about the importance of removing exotic species such as the Garlic Mustard from our woodlots surrounding the river. Snacks and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. This event is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to participate and help the FOSR in their efforts to conserve our native habitats. Those volunteers who participate in a full workday (9am-12pm) of invasive specie removal will have the opportunity to earn $5 off the price of a ticket to this years Pestival for each workday contributed.

April 5, Saturday 10:00 am- 3:00 pm: Native Plant Workshop
Cancelled The Baker College Welcome Center, Room B Join the Shiawassee Conservation District and the FOSR for an educational workshop on the benefits of using native plants in your home landscaping. Homeowners can use the information they gain to install plants that are best suited and most beneficial to our local environment. Such plants will be available for sale on June 5 at the Shiawassee Conservancy District office. The cost of the workshop is $25 per person with lunch included. April 19, Saturday 9:00 am- 12:00pm: Shiawassee River Stewardship Day Location: Volunteers will meet at 9:00 am near the Raingardens along Jerome St. and near Capitol Bowl. The FOSR will be holding an early cleanup of the Shiawassee Riverbanks and adjacent parks (dry land only). Crews will work to remove debris and trash until noon. Following the cleanup, lunch and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers by local vendors Roma's Pizza and Backdoor Restaurant. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in the stewardship day.

May 16, Friday 6:00- 8:00 pm: Garlic Mustard Pestival Location: Eddie O’Flynn’s in Owosso Come enjoy a delicious dinner and tasty beverages with food made from our own locally grown and harvested garlic mustard. The cost is $40 per person and for those who participated in the Garlic Mustard removal workdays, please remember to bring your work card to receive your discounted entry price.
