What is GivingTuesday? Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (November 30), GivingTuesday inspires community members to give back to the causes and issues that matter to them. Fueled by social media, this massive wave of giving and collaboration demonstrates how much power we have to create change. The #raiseUPshiawassee Story: We are stronger when we come together to improve our community. United together under the hashtag, #raiseUPshiawassee, the Shiawassee County collaborative effort has worked hard to connect nonprofits with those who Give Back to Shiawassee. More community connections were sparked through service and/or giving, which not only reinvigorated connections between ourselves as nonprofits working collaboratively, but also strengthened connections within our community. This year’s goal is to continue the collaboration by inspiring local business owners and their employees to give where they work and live! Be a part of the #raiseUPshiawassee movement by giving back to the causes and issues that matter to you! The mission of the Friends of the Shiawassee River is to Care, by maintaining and improving the health of the river; Share, by enhancing the community's appreciation and knowledge of the river; and Enjoy, by increasing recreational access and responsible use of the river. Join us in creating access points along the river, monitoring water quality, and building community as we enhance the river. At the Friends, we are all "boots in" when it comes to being stewards of our river! |
